Thank you Sharon Lowen

Nov 10 Monday – our Big Day at the Slum, meeting Emma, who works as a travel agent ( thanks to our friend Eve Sheridan, from home. She introduced us to her friend Chris, a woman who has spent years living with her husband in Delhi! She now lived in Washington DC I was Excited to speak with her about Delhi, and she recommended I get in touch with her friend who lives in Delhi and sets up tours! Perfect – I thought. So- meeting her at the Turtle Cafe at the Kahn market was like a dream. We had a mishap with our driver getting back to Sharon’s but challenges add to the excitement! ( He vanished to get his car repaired but reached us by phone and all was well) And I reminded myself Don’t Panic!!! Back that nite at Sharon’s we said hello to Sharon and he sweet Mother Ethel, who the servants refer to as Bobbi. They take Wonderful care of her! The cook, clean, bathe her, dress her, brush her hair lovingly and even lead her in Standing Exercises! She grumbles thru this. She is 97!!!. She has a radiant Huge Smile and Sparkling eyes and speaks in a charming way from a lost world she is no longer apart of.She has spent a lot of time over the years with her daughter Sharon in Delhi and here she is, spending her final years in India!she was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and she raised her 3 children in the swanky part of Detroit. Allynn immersed himself in plane reservations for flying to Kathmandu the next day and I began my packing. A funny feeling began to come over me- subtle but annoying. I continued my packing and I wondered if this feeling was coming from the beginnings of a urinary tract infection!! I couldn’t Believe it! Here I was, on the brink of possibly The Most Exciting Moment in my Life!! And I may have to delay our flight or bear the pain of Sistitus thru our flight and hope to find a doctor in Nepal!!! Phew- What to Do!!! My next step was to tell Allynn about this burning feeling- that can spell impending Doom if you don’t get your hands on cranberry juice or antibiotics! He reacted calmly and continued to try to book our flight. Meanwhile, Sharon entered our room and I told her about my dilema. She asked me if I remember the medication I have taken befor for it-I said no- and then I Emailed a friend- Lynn Needle- She Knows Everything! And she had just given me a going away party PLUS a Massage! She runs an Extroidinary dance school in Ridgewood NJ which has become my home away from home. She travelled the world working with a famous brilliant choreographer – Alwin Nickoli. A minute later Sharon knocked on my door with the most amazing Gift I have ever received in my whole life. She had a small brown paper bag in her hand and I knew it had to be MEDECINE!! She told me she called her doctor who told her what I needed and then she had her driver pick it up at the chemist! It cost me $2.00!!! I took one and in 10 minutes the troublesome burning sensation vanished and the crisis was over!!! Do Not Panic and Thank You Sharon!!!!!! Allynn finally got the flight reservations finished and it was time for dinner. The meals at Sharon’s are Exactly what and how I like to eat- brown rice, a tasty sauce to drench over it and small bowls of mixed veggies with Indian spices-Plus a beautiful green salad!! We have been enjoying Sharon’ hospitality-driver And Meals for a Week and Allynn and I were both feeling it was time to move on. So going the next day to Kathmandu was perfect.I had left my Nepal guide book at home because Allynn said we could buy it as an E book. But I was missing my book until I looked on Safari and found hotels in Kathmandu I made a few notes and wanted to book on right away. But Allynn said He would do it in the morning. He got busy in the morning and forgot about it. By the time we got to the airport- around noon, Allynn tried to get on his computer to reserve a room-but the free internet was nonexistent!! I thought- Oh Shit!!! And Do Not Panic!!!!! Allynn jumped thru hoops for a hour, dealing with path odes etc. as we sat in the boarding area. Meanwhile procured for myself some hot coffee And chocolate and Then I saw an Oasis I couldn’t believe- Starbucks!!! I sauntered on to check on Allynn’s progress. He wanted me to look at my I phone at the list of hotels in Kathmandu. The plane was already boarding and I had about 3 seconds to make up my mind. I zeroed in on one named Pilgrim because I’d seen it listed the nite before but this one was a slightly different name but with the word Pilgram in it. I decided to push that hotel on the phone and hoped we had a reservation, then we boarded the plane, Excited and Nervous about Where we would be staying in Kathmandu.
