New Hotel in Kathmandu by Annie

Nov 14 Yesterday moved to a new hotel, from Hotel Pilgrams to Hotel Himalaya Yoga. This one offers a free yoga class ( Sivananda style) at 8:am and a free meditation class at 6:00 pm. Breakfast is free- eggs, any style with hash browns and toast, butter and jelly. Our room has twin beds(small but comfortable) and private bath. The shower and toilet are is all combined, so when you use the shower, the whole room gets a bath! We are paying $35.00 per night for the 2 of us, and that includes the yoga, meditation and breakfast. Without a private bath it would be $20.00. One minor detail- there is a construction site next door!! We have a daily concert of saws and hammers!! Nite it is quiet. Last nite we stepped out for a bite at a local spot. Allynn had Momo soup ( dumplings in broth) and I had an Indian curry platter( a metal circular platter with a big pile of white rice in the center, surrounded by little metal saucers filled with flavorful condiments and veggies. Our bill for dinner was $6.00! I was afraid I would be cold at night, sleeping in our little beds, without a heater, so I layered up in my yoga leggings, fleece pants, T shirt and fleece top. The bedding is simple – just a fleece blanket ontop of the sheet. The pillow is good for reading but too big and stiff for sleeping. I am glad I brought my own piece of fleece And a small couch pillow from home .shopping yesterday I bought a beautiful bedspread with an elephant design-$25.00- pricey I thought and I bargained it down from $30. Crawling under the covers of my newly made bed with my elephant jnspread and fleec on top – I was Hot. So I peeled off the fleece layer and was Fine! We had a Great Sleep! Something to celebrate!! Today we will get a cab to the monkey palace. I heard of a wonderful massage place where the massage therapists are blind. I haven’t been doing any drawing so far on our trip. This blog writing has been my creative endeavor. Please let us know if you are reading our blog. It would inspire us, to keep this going! Love to all my Friends and Family!! I feel like the place where are now is relaxing, manageable, because we can walk out of the hotel and find ourselves in a land of shopping enchantment! Super Retail Therapy. The endless shops and cafes of all varieties offer sights and scents that tintilate all of your senses. Incense is smoking up every doorway!!Namaste Annie

  1. Love the blog. Sites and sounds of India are clearly remarkable. Any dance studios? Had a great meeting with composers and choreographers at DANY in NYC. Am beginning new work with two composers. I am envisioning incredible long dresses, sheet and light with complimentary look for men. Have you shopped for fabric? Surprised you are cold. I thought the weather would be warm in most regions. Miss you !

  2. Read your blog and check it up for updates every single day! Please keep it up!! It inspires me to be creative and experience new things. Working on a set of earings right now that I had in mind for a couple of years and reading two books I promised myself to read a long time ago too.

    Love you both dearly!
